To be eligible for a VA loan, must meet the basic service requirements set by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), have a valid Certificate of Qualification (COE), and meet the creditor’s credit and income requirements you or your spouse.

You may be eligible for a VA loan by fulfilling one or more of the following requirements:

  • You have served 90 consecutive days of active service during wartime, OR
  • You have served 181 days of active service during peacetime, OR
  • You have 6 years of service in the National Guard or Reserves, OR

Documents needed to start your VA home

Veterans need to provide a variety of documents related to both military service and personal income. These documents include, however, VA certificate of veteran eligibility, W2 statement of last 2 years, one month of recent LES or pay stub, two months of most recent bank statement, copy of DD214 (if the veteran is exempted / separate from military).
